Evernote + MindMapping = Ever...Mapping

Now let's talk a little bit about mixing two different tools with features in common (mindmapping and Evernote). I will confess I'm an avid Evernote user, I used to throw everything I come across into that fantastic tool. I love the combination of massive storage and impressive mechanisms to look for specific information in this large amount of information. On the other hand one of the main features of mindmapping is using the two hemyspheres, among other things, to remind the information for the future. It turns out also important to keep track of your mindmaps in order to see you evolution. So gathering previous statements one can infer that just good things can be obtain by mixing those tools. That combination based on storing your handdrawn mindmaps and your softwaremade ones makes it easier to find maps related to specific tags, contents, words,... The only feature you have to be sure about in case of handmade is to be very straight in the art of writing. One doubt I have got is the difficulty to recognise words in the 6 hour branch in the map, vertical words must be difficult to find. It also important to say that mindmaps must be scanned or export to PDF, where Evernote makes it easier to find content

Hi Alberto. This idea about using Evernote (which I'm using intensively as well) for storing mind maps (mine and those from others) is a really good idea. I will consider it. Thank you for the good tip.

I can't see the big picture with evernote. I am currently thinking over coding an app to make the bridge in the other way : Evernote->Mindmaps. Do you think it might be a good idea ?

I want a program that takes notes from Evernote and makes a mindmap based on tags, so you can process and manipulate your evernote data more visially as well.

Hi Bruno and Caroline.
Sorry for the delay answering.
Thanks for the comment.
Frankly speaking I hadn't thought about it, but it is a brilliant idea to get a mindmap done based on notes.
I see two different possibilities. One, keyboard-written notes (so to call it) where I think this can be done nicely and a fast enough (although I'm far away from being a software expert).
It turns out more complicated to me the second possibility, being able to get a mindmap done from a handwritten note, because you'd have first to identify what is written (OCR techniques, I presume) and afterwards transforming it into a map.
Anyway it's an extraordinary idea.
I'll try to get more info on that and if I got something I'll keep you both updated.

Hi,

Have you had a look at Mohio mind mapping?

I took a look at it, it mind-maps your evernote notes.

It's pretty cool. Not what I was looking for (I'm just looking for old-fashioned mind mapping that I can import/ edit in evernote), but sounds like what Caroline is looking for. Cheers.
